On April 7, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, within the framework of celebrating World Intellectual Property Day, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan – President of the Vietnam Film Development Association on behalf of the organizing committee announced the event. announced the results of the final round of the online clip contest “I love Vietnam”.
The contest is organized by the Vietnam Cinema Development Promotion Association and the American Motion Picture Association in collaboration with the US Embassy, BHD, K+, TikTok and a number of other partners, to spread love for Vietnam. Nam, at the same time introducing and promoting to international friends the country of Vietnam as a tourist destination and an ideal location for filming major movies.
On the opening night of the first Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF I) taking place on the evening of May 9, 2023, Mr. Edward Neubronner – Senior Vice President of the American Cinema Association International – Asia region Asia Pacific and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Vice President of the Vietnam Cinema Development Promotion Association launched the online clip contest. “I love Vietnam” route (I love Vietnam).
The contest received a warm response from a large number of filmmakers, young people who love cinema and travel from all over the country. At the end of the deadline for receiving contest clips, the Organizing Committee received 289 valid contest clips through sources: website https://ilovevietnamfilmcomp.us, email officevfda@gmail.com and from the Tiktok platform. The entries described the beauty of 60/63 provinces and cities across Vietnam.
The Competition Organizing Committee has established a Jury Board including: Ms. Ly Phuong Dung – Screenwriter, Deputy Director of the Cinema Department – President; Mr. Stephen P. Jenner – Vice President of Communications for Asia-Pacific, Motion Picture Association of America (MPA); Mr. Nguyen Trinh Hoan – Director of Photography, Director of HK Film Company; Ms. Tran Thi Bich Ngoc – Film producer; Mr. Dinh Tuan Vu – Film Director.
The selection criteria are clips that explore new destinations, effectively capturing the beauty of landscapes in Vietnam, prioritizing undiscovered landscapes, specifically: Location/setting new, suitable for filming big movies, not familiar tourist destinations; The location/setting has unique elements that create emotions for the viewer.
