Born in 1989, Pham Thien An is a Vietnamese director and screenwriter. Before discovering filmmaking, he originally worked in IT and developed his love for cinema through watching films at home with friends.
Pham Thien An rose to international attention with “Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell”, which premiered at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and won the Caméra d'Or for Best First Feature.
Having built his journey through independent filmmaking - from short films to feature projects recognized at Cannes - and after receiving the Best Director Award at DANAFF II, Pham Thien An’s return to DANAFF IV as a member of the Asian Competition Jury carries a special significance.
