
People’s Artist Tran Luc (born in 1963 in Hanoi) comes from a family with a rich artistic tradition. He began his artistic career in the early 1980s as an actor with the General Department of Logistics Performing Arts Troupe before studying theatre directing in Bulgaria and later returning to Vietnam to continue his professional artistic path.
Tran Luc first became widely known to audiences as an actor through numerous acclaimed works such as The Life of a Traveling Singer, Love Story by the River, Nguyen Ai Quoc in Hong Kong, Em and Trinh, and Peach Blossoms, Pho and Piano. With his intellectual appearance, elegant demeanor, and natural acting style, he was regarded as one of the representative faces of Vietnamese cinema during the 1990s.
Alongside acting, People’s Artist Tran Luc also established himself as a director through works including The Moc Family Story (1998), a television series beloved by generations of audiences; Who Will Be the First Foot This Tet? (2002), a film widely regarded as one of the pioneering works that helped establish the modern Vietnamese Tet film genre. He also served as an investor and executive producer on several projects, including Cocktail for Love (2008), and The Chef and the Tycoon (2013).
Beyond cinema, he has devoted significant passion to experimental theatre, founding LucTeam in 2017 to pursue new approaches in performance and actor training. In 2023, he was awarded the prestigious title of People’s Artist in recognition of more than four decades of dedication to Vietnamese arts and culture.
With his wealth of experience in acting and directing, his participation at DANAFF IV is anticipated to provide objective insights, thereby enhancing the prestige of the Vietnamese In-Competition Program.
