On the evening of May 13, the Closing and Award ceremony of the 1st Danang Asian Film Festival 2023 (DANAFF I) took place at Trung Vuong Theater with the honored attendance of H.E. Mr. Tran Hong Ha – Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet – Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council; Mr. Le Trung Chinh – Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh -Head of the Organization Department of the Da Nang Party Committee; Mr. Doan Ngoc Huynh Anh- Head of the Propaganda Department of the City Party Committee and Ms. Doan Thi Kim Yen – Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang People’s Committee.
Delivering her speech at the Closing Ceremony, Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen said that Da Nang City has just experienced a week with a vibrant, exciting, and colorful cinematic atmosphere.
The festival’s events, including indoor and outdoor screenings, film crew introductions, a gala for artists and the audiences, the 2 seminars on “Developing the film industry – Building a favorable film-making environment in Da Nang” and “Japanese Cinema – successful experience and direction of co-production with Vietnam”, and the “Talent Incubator” workshop have received warmly welcome by the public, students, managers, experts, researchers in the film industry.

The 1st Da Nang Asian Film Festival, 2023 with the theme “DANAFF I – Bridging Asia” has become a bridge between Vietnam’s cinema and other countries in the region, between Da Nang audiences and the nation, among people, life, and art of those countries with films participating in the festival.
“In order to achieve those successes, once again, I would like to thank the attention and direction of the leaders of the Government, Ministries, and Central agencies, the enthusiastic participation of artists, experts, researchers, sponsors, and the support from press agencies and volunteers. Thanks to the cooperation of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA), the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema, the members of the Jury, the filmmakers, the Department of Culture and Sports, and related departments. I would like to especially express gratitude to the audience for the warm welcome of the event”, emphasized Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen -Vice Chairwoman of the City People’s Committee.

Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen hopes that, with the success of the first edition of the festival, along with the enthusiasm of the people and those working in the film industry, Da Nang City will choose the direction in developing cinema to become an important cultural industry, making positive contributions to cultural, socio-economic development.

“We believe that Da Nang will not only be a beautiful land in the eyes of the people and tourists, but the image of Da Nang will also be able to cross the borders between countries and continents through cinema”, said Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen.
According to Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairwoman of VFDA and the Festival Director, even though it’s the first edition, DANAFF I has shown professionalism in the organizing process; in the high-quality selected films for competition and for other screening programs.

“All of these have lit the fire of the love of cinema in the past few days. The members of the jury worked diligently and carefully to select the best cinematographic works and filmmakers and artists to present the awards,” said Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan.
