Synopsis

Soon-jeong, 18-year-old, living with her mother,is full of dissatisfaction withher home and school in particular with her mother.She dreams ofimmigrating to Australia as soon as she graduates from high school.So she has been working part-time at a convenience store early on, but the reason Soon-jeong’splans are disrupted is none other than because of the new homeroom teacher, Hee-joo. Soon-jeongwants to get out of the self-study class at night for working her part-time job, but Hee-jooturns it down.Tension continues to rise between the two.Film is based on the coming-of-age novel Your Presence at 18, depicts teenagers struggling with their reality.

Director’s biography

Director Eo Il Seon was born in 1967. He released his first horror-themed film Plastic Tree (2002), which won the Grand Prize Award at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival. The film was also premiered at many major film festivals in Cannes, Deau Ville, Montreal, Toronto, Rotterdam, Berlin. In his filmmaking career, he has written scripts and directed numerous films including the notable ones like In Between (2010), After love (2016) and most recently 18 Youth (2023).
