Tran Thi Bich Ngoc earned Bachelor of Film Directing from Ha Noi Academy of Cinema and Theatre & holds Master of Public Policy from Fulbright University.
Ngoc has extensive over 20 years working in movies industry in Viet Nam. She used to be head of production department at Galaxy Studio, the largest private film-studio in Viet Nam. Several successful movies under her time includes Vengeful Heart (Victor Vu), Lady Assassin (Nguyen Quang Dung).
Some of her key careers of independent films include Big Father, Small Father and Other Stories by Phan Dang Di, official competition at the Berlin IFF in 2015; The Third Wife by Ash Mayfair, world premiere at Toronto IFF, nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards in 2019; Glorious Ashes by Bui Thac Chuyen, official competition at Tokyo IFF 2022, received the grand award Montgolfier d’or at the Festival des Three Continents, Nantes 2022. She also serves as member of international jury at Tokyo IFF 2023 & as mentor of many producing workshops in South East Asia. Her expertise as a producer has contributed to the success and recognition of Vietnamese cinema on a global scale.
Ngoc also is co-founder of Autumn Meeting, an international cinema workshop and event which began in 2013 as a platform to support young filmmakers in Viet Nam and across the Southeast Asia. In 2019, she was named one of Forbes Magazine’s “50 Most Influential Women’s” in recognition of her efforts to support young filmmakers and help bring Vietnamese cinema to the world.
