Georges Goldenstern is the founder of the very famous public television channel on culture and arts in Europe, ARTE, and the founder of Arte France Cinema. During his 15 years as chief executive of Arte France, he was involved in the production of more than 250 films from around the world, including widely known works such as “A Summer at La Goulette” (1996), “Salut Cousin” (1998) and “Lumumba” (2000).
Since 1998, he has been Executive Director of the Cinéfondation program at the Cannes Film Festival. The program is assigned the important mission of finding and supporting new generation international filmmakers through activities such as project introduction support (L’Atelier), residency program for young filmmakers in Paris (Cannes Residence). The program introduces a series of short films selected from film schools around the world at Cannes (Selection). Cinefondation has discovered or supported many famous filmmakers such as Tran Anh Hung, Lou Ye, Wang Bing… Vietnamese directors such as Bui Thac Chuyen, Phan Dang Di, Pham Ngoc Lan have good opportunity to join the activities at Cinefodation.
After more than two decades of dedication to Cinefondation, Georges Goldenstern has resigned from the leading post of this organization and he is currently the artistic director of Meditalents, a residency program supporting screenwriters in the South of France.
