Jean-Marc Thérouanne is the Co-Founder, Artistic Director and General Delegate of the Festival International des Cinémas d’Asie de Vesoul, created in 1995 to celebrate the centenary of cinema.

French honors: Officier des Palmes académiques (2018), Chevalier des Arts et Lettres (2003), Médaille des Langues Orientales (2006), Médaille de la Francophonie (2009), Médaille d’honneur de la ville de Vesoul (2014).
Foreign honors: Korean Cinema Award (2018), Medal of Cinematographic Art of the Republic of Mongolia (2018), Golden Man of Issyk, Honorary Cinema Award of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2023).
Each year, Mr. Thérouanne and his wife strive to introduce audiences to “every aspect of Asian cinema,” seeking out films that are “rarely shown” in Europe or those being screened for the first time in France or even worldwide at the Vesoul International Film Festival.
The Vesoul Film Festival annually honors the cinema of an Asian country. In 2014, when Vietnam was the guest of honor, the festival showcased many significant works of Vietnamese cinema, affirming Vietnam’s role and influence in Asian cinema.
