On the evening of May 12th, the Japanese animated film “Drifting House” was screened outdoor at the APEC Park as part of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival screening program, attracting numerous film lovers, despite the heavy rain.
Outdoor film screening is one of the many exciting activities at the 1st Da Nang Asian Film Festival. Taking place on three nights May 10th, 11th and 12th , three films were premiered, including: The Spectacular Adventure of Little Prodigy, Tan Truong – Who am I? and Drifting Home.
The sight of audiences wearing raincoats watching the premiere of the animated film Drifting Home on the evening of May 12th was highly emotion-evoking. The organizer is said to have also distributed raincoats to spectators.
Drifting Home is a famous animated film directed by Hiroyasu Ishida, starring Mutsumi Tamura, Asami Seto, Ayumu Murase. The film was produced in 2022 with a duration of 119 minutes.
The script revolves around the coming-of-age journey of a group of youngsters. Kosuke and Natsume have been friends since childhood, but over time, the relationship between these two sixth graders seems to have grown strained. One day during summer vacation, they arrive at a housing complex that is scheduled to be demolished. It was the place they grew up in and held a lot of memories. While fooling around, they suddenly get caught up in a mysterious phenomenon and when they wake up, they see an ocean in front of them: the complex has drifted to a mysterious sea with Kosuke and Natsume atop. Can they return to the previous world? A summer farewell trip officially begins.
The Vietnamese film The Spectacular Adventure of Little Prodigy by director Phan Gia Nhat Linh with the participation of actors Huynh Huu Khang, Phan Bao Tien, Hoang Long, Duc Anh also brought a lot of excitement to the audience of the coastal city. The film was produced in 2021, with a duration of 112 minutes.
The Spectacular Adventure of Little Prodigy is a story about the journey to Phat Quang pagoda of a group of 4 little kids including Ti, Suu, Dan, Meo to find the answer the question of who Ti’s father is. On this journey, the group of friends have to go through a lot of hardships, challenges and even life-threatening dangers, but thanks to that, the 4 kids are enlightened on many things that they did not know before.
The film Tan Truong – Who am I?, directed by Le Nguyen, produced in 2022 with a duration of 71 minutes is the first documentary on sports history in Vietnam. Bui Tan Truong, who are you? The soccer player who makes incredibly stupid mistakes, or the goalkeeper who makes amazing saves… The film was screened outdoors and was enjoyed by a large audience.
With the slogan: “DANAFF- Bridging Asia”, the Da Nang Asian Film Festival selects and honors excellent cinematic works, rich in humanistic values, with new discoveries and unique artistic expressions; encourages new film talents in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region; widely introduces to the public new, high-value cinematographic works of Asian and Vietnamese origins and selected world cinema films.
It was also a great opportunity to introduce the Vietnamese film market to the world, and at the same time contributed to promoting the image of Da Nang as the friendly, hospitable, integrated and developed city.
The 1st Danang Asian Film Festival 2023 was held from May 9th to 13th with the guidance of the City People’s Committee of Da Nang, the coordination of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang city together with numerous domestic and international agencies, organizations and individuals, featuring 46 films with 94 screening sessions.
