Inspired by real events, Kurak weaves together multiple narratives exploring the plight of women in contemporary Kyrgyz society. In an environment still heavily dominated by patriarchal values and traditional pressures, the female protagonists are forced to confront violence, institutional silence, and the stripping away of their personal autonomy. Through a minimalist yet emotionally weighty directorial style, the film captures the silent tragedies unfolding beneath the surface of daily life, while raising urgent questions about freedom, dignity, and the place of women in modern society.
