The Unopened Letter tells the story of an elderly father enduring the painful wait for his only son to return from war. Not yet eighteen, the boy lied about his age to enlist and was soon sent to the front lines. Amid months of anxious hope, the father receives a letter tied with a red ribbon — the very sign he has always feared confronting. Through its restrained pacing and emotional subtlety, The Unopened Letter portrays the quiet grief of those left behind by war, while reflecting on memory, waiting, and the enduring weight of paternal love.
