Inspired by and fictionalized from a landmark historical event during Vietnam’s resistance war against the United States, Red Rain recreates the 81-day battle to defend the Quang Tri Citadel during the fiery summer of 1972. The story follows Cuong and the soldiers of Squad 1 as they fight courageously against enemy forces, represented by an airborne commando unit led by Lieutenant Quang. Running parallel to the battlefield is the Paris Peace Accords, where Cuong’s mother, a diplomat in the Vietnamese delegation, takes part in the struggle on the diplomatic front. Standing side by side like a family, the young soldiers of Squad 1, together with countless others, devote themselves to the fierce battles along the Thach Han River, contributing to the victories achieved at the negotiating table in Paris and paving the way for the signing of the Paris Peace Accords.
