Set in the Con Dao Prison during the 1945–1954 period, the film follows Tam, a traditional monochord (dan bau) player who disguises herself as a nurse to aid political prisoners. Inside the prison walls, she reunites with Duy and joins a jailbreak planned by revolutionary soldiers. Midst confinement, brutal torture, and imminent danger, they continue to nurture their yearning for freedom and faith in the future. The film powerfully portrays the strength of resilience, comradeship, and the profound power of music during humanity’s darkest hours.
